Recording Artist Eddie Bush & Wild Wing Café Partner to Help Homeless
Carols for Cans to Raise Awareness of Continuing Community Needs
December 16, 2010, Mt. Pleasant, S.C. – Riding the success of his hit holiday single “I C Christmas”, Charleston recording artist Eddie Bush has partnered with national restaurant chain Wild Wing Café for Carols for Cans 2010 on December 22nd, a benefit concert to help the homeless. With operations in over 30 markets nationwide, Wild Wing Café is one of Charleston’s most popular restaurant chains.
Committed to helping feed those in need, Wild Wing Café, Mt. Pleasant, worked with Bush to pair the spirit of giving this holiday season with good music for a great cause. Bush said, “The homeless are in need every day, not just during the holidays. This is about every day hunger, which most of us don’t think about. Charleston has a strong and generous community, but resources are stretched thin for many. We’re hopeful that our Carols for Cans concert will bring renewed awareness to the many individuals and families who struggle every day with hunger.”
Admission to the benefit concert is free, but fans planning to attend the show are asked to bring healthy canned food items to donate. In addition to the canned food drive, Eddie has pledged to donate a portion of the proceeds raised from sales of his new Christmas single “I C Christmas” to local efforts to provide shelter for the area’s homeless population.

About Eddie Bush
Eddie Bush’s lifelong love for music began when he picked up his first guitar at age four. With early influences of The Beatles, Elvis, Jimi Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen, Eddie committed himself to becoming a great guitar player. Touring with renowned guitarist Eric Johnson and opening for artists such as Keith Urban, Ted Nugent, Heart, Sammy Hagar, Alison Krauss, Montgomery Gentry, Georgia Satellites, Cheap Trick, Eddie Money and Jefferson Starship helped prepare Eddie for the national recognition he would receive from his 9/11 anthem Spirit of America. Following that success, Eddie appeared live on Fox Channel’s Fox & Friends as well as in our nation’s capitol in front of 30,000 police officers and President Bush, where he performed his tribute to fallen police officers The Thin Blue Line. In 2006, Eddie became a member of a new trio, One Flew South, and was signed to Decca/Universal. With collaborations from award-winning songwriters JD Souther, Darrell Scott and Marcus Hummon, One Flew South debuted its first album Last of the Good Guys, producing its first Billboard Hot Country single My Kind of Beautiful. A passionate advocate of music education, in 2009, Eddie partnered with EdisonLearning and developed a curriculum focusing on the importance of songwriting and music. Eddie wrote EdisonLearning’s theme song Power of You, and travels to schools nationwide where he visits and sings with students, further encouraging their love and appreciation for music. Eddie is currently working on his 10th studio album and recently released his first holiday single I C Christmas. Learn more at www.EddieBush.com.

Channeling Freddie Mercury, Eddie Bush Champions a Cause
Monday night, September 20th was the annual GREATEST SHOW EVER put on by my friends Marcus Hummon and Becca Stevens, to benefit an AIDS hospice in Botswana. It was my 4th year participating. What a special show it was this year; it’s special every year, mind you, but with the kind of Nashville talent this event regularly draws, it’s really no surprise.
This year we had Grammy winners and elite songwriters like Darryl Scott, Radney Foster, Mark Prentice, Joe Rice, and Marcus Hummon, vocalists extraordinaire Jonell Mosser, Laura Donahue, Tim Fudge, and my OFS partner Chris Roberts, excellent musicians like Mike Severs, Chris Donahue, and Matt Buble, and my favorite Elvis impersonator Jeff Lewis.
I love this event, as it is a community truly coming together, drawing on it’s shared love of music to support people who are dying, and regularly overlooked or forgotten. I also love it because it allows me to sing songs by one of my favorite singers ever, the GREAT Freddie Mercury.
This year, we revisited the crowd fave, WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS, complete with a painted-on mustache.
In short, every year, when the event is over, conversations have already started about the next year’s potential fun, and how high we can raise the bar; the reward is the music we make, and the impact it has halfway around the world. Perfect.

Honoring 9/11 Nine Years Later
I remember it like it was yesterday.
I was late to work, rushing out of the house when my phone rang. I decided to let the call go to the answering machine; as I started to turn the door knob, my friend’s voice flooded my house. “Turn on the TV”, he shouted, “a plane just hit the World Trade Center!” Admittedly, I thought immediately that a small plane must’ve veered too close to one of the towers, but I was intrigued, so I quickly turned the television on.
The sight I saw next was horrific, as the second plane struck one of the towers at that very moment.
Five days after, a Sunday as I recall, I was sitting in front of the television, lost in what had become a smothering cloud of grief, anger, and continuing disbelief, all the while doing the one thing I can’t help but do – playing my guitar. It was then that I wrote, “Spirit of America”. Odd how it happened really, as the writing itself is now a blur. All I really remember is the next morning, when I added a harmony vocal to a recorded demo of the song, I discovered the song all over, and how much it pulled on my heart. I continued the recording of the song that night in a local recording studio, and it was played on Charleston radio for the first time two days later.
For the next several weeks it was played in heavy rotation, by several local, regional, and national stations. The song was played on Z100 in New York, the Howard Stern show, and amazingly, found it’s way to U.S. Navy ships in the Persian Gulf. The amazing thing was that the song made its way to these many places simply by being passed around from person to person. There were no radio promoters or publicists, just a song that seemed to have struck a nerve. There is something so beautiful and organic about that to me.
I raised thousands of dollars for disaster relief by selling a CD of the song at retail stores in Charleston and across the state. All monies were donated to disaster relief, and when the passion for patriotism calmed, I donated discs to the Fraternal Order of Police, with the hope that they could raise money for their various needs.
For the first time in my career, I was witnessing music making tangible impact. It was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, in the shadow of the most traumatizing day in our nation’s history.
Download Spirit of America Free
For the month of September, Spirit of America is available as a free download through ReverbNation. As we remember the events of 9/11 and how it has shaped America for the past 9 years, my hope is that the song still finds its way into the hearts of Americans.
Spirit of America – Eddie Bush
Red is the color of the American blood I’m bleeding
White is the color of Lady Liberty
And Blue is the color that my heart wore on a long September morn
As we said goodbye to so many who were free
But we’ll never said goodbye to the Sprit of America
We hold our freedom high for all the world to see
We’ll watch the eagle fly with the Spirit of America
God Bless the Land of the Free
Red is the color of the anger that I’m feeling
White is the color of my face when I saw them fall
Blue is the color of the billions of tears that we cried from that day on
All the while showing that we’re standing tall
Above the rest, it’s the Spirit of America
Our flag is flying high for all the world to see
We watch the eagle fly with the Spirit of America
God Bless the Land of the Free
We’ll never say goodbye to the Spirit of America
Our flag is flying high for all the world to see
We’ll watch the eagle fly in the Spirit of America
God Bless the Land of the Free
America the Land of the Free
God Bless the Land of the Free
Eddie Looks at the Past and Towards the Future!
Last week marked a “wrap” on the pre-production of my first solo recording in 5 years. In a weird way, the initial effort of finding the right band members, choosing material from the multitude of selections written over the last few years, as well as experiencing the joyful discovery of new ideas, felt very much like starting over. It really isn’t far removed from the bands I was a part of in the past; we were so glad to be in each other’s presence for those first few weeks of fresh, combined energies, before the hunt for shows, lack of money for needed gear, or the many other shared frustrations the music biz could offer up crept into the picture. Yes, this project, thus far, has reminded me very much of those times.
We have recorded 14 songs for this release, not including the many Nashville demos that producer Dave Matthews and I recorded with our favorite session players. They include a wide variety of stylistic nuances, a revisit to a song from my ’96 disc (Magic Screen) as well as one of my favorite cuts from One Flew South’s Last of the Good Guys.
Speaking of my favorite vocal trio (I’m obviously biased), I also recorded a couple of cuts written with my brothers in arms, Chris Roberts, Royal Reed, and OFS producer Marcus Hummon. In a weird way, things have come full circle for me. When I joined OFS in 2005,
I wasn’t sure how my need for personal expression would mesh in a group format; truth be told, it was one of the most creatively rewarding experiences I’ve ever had. I anxiously await the day that we revisit that beautiful vocal harmony, much like I am revisiting my solo instincts on this outing.
I’ve never wavered on my need to be genuine musically…I am a slave to whatever muse I follow, and am always left hoping someone out there will hear the sounds I’ve created the same way I do and be moved as I am. Thanks to some key musical players, I’m excited about the future! Dave Matthews started me on this path, and he seems to have the ability to expand my sonic universe in ways that I would have never imagined when I first started recording years ago.
About the Band…
Bass player Ben Bennett is a real gem, a beast of a bassist, the kind of instinctive, creative mind that you read about in music mags, and talk about at the water cooler during work. Drummer Steve Clark is not only excellent as a drummer, percussionist, and vocalist, he is the glue that holds together the improvisational nature of this trio, “The Mayhem”, and the very reason this band came together in the first place.
After getting my number from a mutual friend, Steve called me to ask if I had any interest in putting a new group together. Initially, he gathered players and began traveling regularly to Charleston from his home in Myrtle Beach — a trek he regularly makes to this day, all for the love of making music the way we like to make it. Wow! I love that kind of passion and commitment!
The production process has begun, our strategy of getting it to the people is being put into place, and regardless of the market response, I will have once again, been blessed with the opportunity to share a portion of my life’s soundtrack with the rest of the world. The only expectations I have are those associated with my desire to put my best playing to disc, and sing with all of the heart I can muster.
As a child I dreamed of making my own records, and remember my father once telling me that if I was willing to work hard, I could accomplish anything. Well Dad, I still believe you were right.

The Power of You is “Camplified”!
EdisonLearning is a 2010 sponsor of Camplified and is “looking for original videos of kids, tweens, teens (and anyone really) singing, playing an instrument or just plain rocking out to EL’s new theme song, Eddie’s Power of You!Check out the video below. This Rocks!
Hey everyone! Tori, here. So towards the end of our summer 2010 tour, I got the chance to check out the guitar clinic, sponsored by Epiphone Guitars! It was so awesome that the kids at the camp really got a chance to interact with the bands… and while learning how to play guitar! At each camp, groups of kids would get together for a guitar lesson which is instructed by one of the bands or musicians on tour.
Each kid was able to learn a few chords on an acoustic guitar courtesy of Epiphone and jam away with some of the artists performing on tour, such as Josiah Rea, Rachel Platten, Michael of Michael and Marisa, Highbench and more. Some of the kids even learned a few chords to the theme song of Camplified sponsor EdisonLearning titled, “The Power of You.” It was a great opportunity for the campers, and I hope it inspires kids to take up a musical instrument back home… maybe even start their own band. Who knows, perhaps they’ll be playing on the Camplified tour a few years from now! –Tori
